“An especially beautiful forest”, according to Darwin’s own description when visiting these coasts on his expedition aboard the Beagle in 1834. 

There are already very few places where nature expresses itself in such a beautiful and delicate way and with such richness of life. An infinity of shapes, textures, colors, aromas and sounds captivate us as we walk through the different corners of this friendly forest in which the abundant fauna does not represent any danger to humans.

A unique place to meditate and tune into the harmony of one of the last climax communities in the world where you can still see huge and long-lived trees of different species.

Jorge, our local guide, from childhood an expert who knows the secrets of his forest, shows us the different ecosystems, the hidden sources from which the streams spring, the different species of trees and plants, the nests camouflaged in large logs or hidden Among the bushes, the tracks of the Chilean lion … An exciting experience for the nature lover! Jorge is at home, for him it is not a problem to recognize the song of the different birds, to know which are the best places to observe them and wait for them to come to look at us or where each type of plant grows and which of them are edible. He always knows where he is in a place where anyone would get lost.

Perhaps, if we are prepared and receptive enough, we will also be able to perceive the gnen (spirits), the newen (forces) or the anchimalen (elves) still present in these forests and in the ancestral worldview of the Mapuche people.
